Fatal Crash on I-95 Shuts Down Ramp to MD 155

There was an 10-mile backup from Havre de Grace to Cecil County, according to transportation officials.

The ramp to MD Route 155 from southbound Interstate 95 was closed for four hours due to a fatal crash Thursday afternoon.

An employee of the Maryland Transportation Authority was killed near the exit ramp when he was hit by a van, police reported.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at 1:17 p.m. on I-95 south at the ramp to exit 89/Route 155, according to transportation officials.

Major delays built, with traffic stacked up on Tydings Bridge into Cecil County. There was an 8-mile backup after 3:30 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

The two left lanes were open on I-95 south as of 3:45 p.m., while the right lane and ramp remained blocked, the transportation authority reported.

By 5:30 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority reported the ramp and right lane had reopened, while a 10-mile backup remained on I-95.
