Report: $65.1 Million in Renovations Due for Hatem Bridge

MdTA says painting and underwater repairs will be made possible by tolls.

The Maryland Transportation Authority will be spending approximately $65.1 million in further renovations to the Hatem Bridge beginning this fall, according to a report.

A post on baltimoresun.com said $10.8 million will be spent to clean and paint steel portions of the 71-year-old bridge. An MdTA spokesperson quoted in the report said a $54.3 million underwater project, expected to take two years, will repair the bridge's support piers.

Work on a $66.8 million project to re-deck the Hatem Bridge—which carries U.S. Route 40 across the Susquehanna River—is nearly complete after three years, according to the report.
