Report: Bridge Walk Rescheduled

Planned event to walk Hatem Bridge has been pushed back.

The planned Bridge Walk, which would have allowed residents to walk across the Susquehanna River on the Hatem Bridge, has been delayed according to a report.

The Cecil Whig reported the event has been pushed back because the Maryland Transportation Authority has altered its proposal. Instead of this fall, it will be held at some point in 2012.

"We're not going to make that Sept. 25 date," Perryville Mayor Jim Eberhardt told The Whig.

The Bridge Walk was to commemorate the end of approximately three years of construction on the bridge, which during evening rush hour, brought northbound traffic on Route 40 to a standstill.
