Sandruck Named Outstanding Officer of '11 at Council Meeting
Havre de Grace City Council met Tuesday evening at City Hall.

PFC Aaron Sandruck was named the Outstanding Officer of the Year during .
Sandruck, who for attaining the status of Drug Recognition Expert, was honored by the local as the department's outstanding officer.
Sandruck was responsible for 69 arrests—16 DUI arrests and 21 drug-related arrests. Working the 4 p.m. to midnight shift, he also issued the most traffic citations in the department.

Also Tuesday, two residents were appointed to commissions, and a public hearing was held on a proposed forest conservation ordinance as Havre de Grace City Council held to open 2012.
According to Shyla Glassman of the Mayor's office, Joe Gamatoria was reappointed to the Street and Traffic Safety Advisory Board, and Dr. William Russell was appointed as an alternate member of the Planning Commission. Both appointments were approved by unanimous votes by council.

The public hearing on a proposed forest conservation ordinance was brief, according to Explore Harford. City Council is expected to vote on the ordinance—introduced in Dec. 2011—at the Jan. 17 meeting, which will be another Tuesday meeting. The third Monday of the month falls on a municipal holiday.
Tuesday's meeting was the first in more than a year that Patch did not cover with a live blog. Patch plans to start a new streak at the second meeting of the month, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 17.
