Second 7-Eleven Coming to Havre de Grace

A new 7-Eleven store is coming to Havre de Grace.

Multiple Havre de Grace city officials confirmed that a 7-Eleven store is scheduled to open in the 500 block of Union Avenue—at the location of the former Legion Square flower shop at the corner of Warren Street and Union Avenue.

The owner of the property did not reply to a request for comment Tuesday, and a 7-Eleven corporate communications official was unable to confirm a second store was coming to Havre de Grace.

The city already has one , located on Ontario Street between Ohio Street and Pulaski Highway.

The new store is not expected to have gas pumps, as they would fall inside the critical area of the Susquehanna River.

The building is also being designed to fit into the city's historic downtown landscape, officials told Patch.

The store's opening date was not known Tuesday.

The prospect of a 7-Eleven coming to Union Avenue has been whispered around Havre de Grace for nearly two months, and plans went through the approval process with the planning commission. Because the convenience store falls within the current zoning, there was no requirement for the project to be brought before City Council.

At an , approval was made for expanded parking—including parking on city right of way—at the property. That approval was made prior to a tenant being in place, officials said.

From the , a license agreement—among five signed off by council members during the meeting—was approved for "the reconfiguration of a parking lot at the former Country Flower Shop at 500 N. Union Avenue to create an additional 18 parking spaces, which will be available for public use after business hours."
