State Park Campground Reopens
After eight months of upgrades, the Susquehanna State Park campground is open for business.

The Susquehanna State Park Campground is open again—and it's never been greener.
The Maryland Park Service reopened the campground recently after eight months of upgrades, including many eco-friendly renovations, according to a Thursday news release.
"The Susquehanna State Park campground is a great place for families to connect with Maryland’s natural resources," MPS Superintendent Nita Settina said in a prepared statement. "These newly renovated buildings have many green technologies incorporated into their design that will reduce campers’ impact on the environment."

The release said changes were made both inside and outside the restroom and shower buildings.
Both buildings were renovated, including solar panels, on-demand hot water heaters, occupancy sensors, insulated metal roof and clearstory windows. Low-flow faucets and dual flush toilets with an infrared beam powered by small solar panels were also included. Old fixtures and all the concrete and metal from the old building were reused.

Outside, "pervious paving" was installed to allow storm water to be filtered back into the surrounding area.
Handicap accessibility and two campsites with 30 amp electric hookups were also included.
The Susquehanna State Park campground includes 61 campsites—eight with electric hook-ups—and six mini cabins, according to the release. Reservations can be made here, or by calling 1-888-432-2267.
