BEL AIR, MD – Deputies shot and killed a suicidal man who had fired a weapon, following extensive attempts to negotiate with him to come out of a home in Bel Air Wednesday, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said they responded to a home in the 300 block of Althea Court at 3:30 p.m. and tried to get in touch with the 35-year-old suicidal man who, after 30 minutes, left the back of the residence and fired a weapon, causing deputies to seek cover.
The special response team established a perimeter around the residence to help keep the community safe and after a long period of trying to negotiate with the man to surrender peacefully, he came out in the direction of deputies, who feared for their lives and shot him, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
