HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Harford County man was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a Havre de Grace girl. According to police, Brenton John Alexander Mills, 25, of Edgewood, is accused of killing 2-year-old Aubrey Hickman at her home nearly a year ago.

On Jan. 7, authorities were called to a medical emergency in the 600 block of Green Street, where Hickman was in cardiac arrest. The girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital where she died Jan. 11.

While providing aid to Hickman, Havre de Grace police noticed signs of injury, prompting officials to launch a child abuse investigation. At the time, the child was living in a Green Street apartment with her mother and other individuals, the Baltimore Sun reported.
