Two Havre de Grace sisters win $10,000 college scholarships

CARMEL, Ind. (September 2, 2020) – Round Room, LLC., the nation’s largest Verizon Authorized Wireless Retailer and parent company to TCC and Wireless Zone, announces today that sisters Keira T. and Natalia TB. of Havre de Grace, MD, are two of five recipients awarded a $10,000 college scholarship as a part of the company’s eighth annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway and this year’s Big Impact. With the odds of two children from the same family winning the scholarship only 1 in 655,401, their wins are truly remarkable.

Keira, 14 years old, has dreams of attending the Culinary Institute of America and starting her own restaurant one day. Nine-year-old Natalia enjoys learning about math in school and dreams of becoming a college gymnast. These scholarships will help the sisters get even closer to their goals.

“Scholarships helped me go to college, so we’ve explained to our children how helpful they are as we prepare for their futures,” said their mother, Cheron. “Both of the girls being selected for these scholarships goes to show that you can’t prosper if you don’t take leaps of faith. Why not take the opportunity to try and advance your children?”

This year’s Big Impact follows TCC and Wireless Zone’s annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. TCC and Wireless Zone stores nationwide donated more than 140,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to prepare students for the upcoming school year. This year marked one million backpacks donated since the giveaway began in 2013. Each student who received a backpack was eligible to win a $10,000 college scholarship through TCC’s Big Impact, with five winners randomly chosen.

“As costs for higher education continue to rise, we’re thrilled to award these scholarships to help students prepare for their academic futures,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of Round Room, LLC. “These are difficult times to financially plan for a child’s education for so many families across the country. We hope this gesture can provide needed financial relief and serve as a stepping stone for these children’s bright futures.”
