So they convinced the to dig up a time capsule buried 30 years ago.

Wasielewski was alerted to the capsule's existence by after a note with a photo and a map was discovered in an envelope while shifting furniture in the guidance office.

The Class of 1981 left specific directions for the capsule to be opened 30 years later. 

After about 15 minutes of digging early Friday afternoon, the students pulled the bucket-sized capsule from a grass peninsula at the Juniata Street entrance to the student parking lot.

The students of the archeology class will devise a new container and a list of items to be included in another time capsule—a project they will undertake with the school's newest teacher, who is set to start on Monday.
