Warriors Open Fall Season With Fresh Faces

Havre de Grace High School and the rest of the public schools in Maryland begin fall sports tryouts Saturday.

The fall sports season kicks off this morning as teams around Harford County and Maryland begin practices.

In , four new coaches will begin their Warriors careers today.

"This is the biggest new group I've had in a while in the fall," Havre de Grace Athletic Director Heather Crawford told her coaches at a Thursday meeting.

Greg Long takes over the varsity football program as the new head coach after more than a decade as the defensive coordinator.

John Rogers is the new boys volleyball coach, replacing longtime coach Gary Wasielewski, who oversaw one of the school's most successful fall sports teams for more than a decade.

Angie Taddia has stepped down as girls volleyball coach, after a teriffic stint with the Warriors, including a region final run in 2010. Havre de Grace had not announced a new girls volleyball coach as of Thursday night.

Bill Walsh and Alex Spooner will coach cross country. Gretchen Repaal will coach field hockey. Sean Smith returns with the boys soccer team. Ed Yodris is back to coach golf.
