Water/Sewer Commission Supports Increase

The Water/Sewer Commission report Monday night backed Mayor Dougherty's proposal from a January work session.

 

It came as no suprise to those who understand the complicated financials of the city's water and sewer system, but the Water/Sewer Commission on Monday supported a proposed increase in the city's utility fees.

at the time of that meeting, the city faced a $542,200 deficit in the water and sewer fund. Dougherty's plan would bring the city's "Fund 9" to solvency by 2016.

On Monday, during a presentation required by the city charter, commission member Garrett Lyttle , supporting the mayor's plan.

The plan would have to go before for approval. 

The commission also recommended a review of deferred and proposed capital projects, as well as the establishment of a capital reserve fund.
