Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch for Harford County
Wednesday may best be spent off the roads due to winter weather in Havre de Grace, other areas.

Snow is in the forecast this week in Havre de Grace, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Harford County, indicating that at least 5 inches of snow may fall on Wednesday.
A winter storm watch means there is the potential for significant snow, ice or sleet accumulation that could impact travel.
The winter storm watch is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Along with Harford, the weather service included Carroll and northern Baltimore counties in the watch area.
The National Weather Service said that roads may become snow-covered and slippery; and with the potential for 5-plus inches of snow, trees may fall and power outages could ensue.

The snow will likely hit in the area of Interstate 95 and points west, according to the weather service.
AAA Mid-Atlantic has put out the call for drivers to avoid holiday travel until the storm completely passes.
“Wednesday can turn into a chaotic and frightening scene of events on the roadways along the East Coast,” AAA Mid-Atlantic spokeswoman Christine Sarames Delise said. “With over 888,000 travelers in Maryland taking to the roads this Wednesday, AAA Mid-Atlantic is warning motorists to heed all travel warnings and stay home until road conditions improve.”
