HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - There are a host of closings around town and across the country for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4. Here's a guide to what is open and what is closed in Havre de Grace for the holiday.

For background, Labor Day was officially recognized by Congress in 1894 as a federal holiday and has been celebrated the first Monday in September to honor all who contribute to the nation’s economy with their work, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

• Harford Transit buses
• Harford Waste Disposal Center and the Tollgate Yard trim drop-off facility

• Restaurants, bars/taverns

Call ahead to confirm whether establishments are open, as many retail stores or gyms/health clubs have changed some of their hours.
