Wind Restriction, Warning in Effect for Hatem, Tydings Bridges: MDTA
Some vehicles are prohibited or restricted on bridges Sunday due to high winds, transportation officials advise.
A limited wind restriction is in effect for the Hatem Bridge on Sunday, Nov. 20, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. A wind warning is in effect on the Tydings Bridge as well.
Much of the state is under a wind advisory until midnight, with the potential for gusts up to 55 mph.
Winds of 40 to 49 mph trigger limited wind restrictions, which is the situation at the Hatem Bridge, meaning these are prohibited: house trailers, empty box trailers or any other vehicle that law enforcement personnel say may not safely cross. Drivers denied passage will be given assistance so they can safely turn around.

A wind warning is in effect for the Tydings Bridge, triggered by 30 to 39 mph winds. Drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge during a wind warning: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.
State transportation officials advise keeping both hands on the wheel and slowing down during periods of strong winds.
