Wounded Aberdeen Officer is Home, Police Say

Havre de Grace man faces 10 charges in officer shooting, according to court records.

Officer Jason Easton, the Aberdeen policeman who was shot in the face Friday working the night shift, has returned home from the hospital, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

Police said that Easton underwent surgery at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Friday for a gunshot wound to the face, including a projectile in his eye.

“At this time his prognosis is uncertain. Officer Easton will continue to seek medical professionals for treatment to his eye injury,” Aberdeen Police said of his release from the hospital Saturday.

The community has raised more than $6,000 on GoFundMe for the Easton family, which police say includes the officer, his wife and their two young children, as he undergoes recovery and follow-up doctor visits.

Tyler Scott Testerman, 21, of the 800 block of Tydings Road in Havre de Grace, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault on law enforcement, two counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to court records.

Aberdeen Police said Testerman was “definitely the triggerman,” according to a report from The Baltimore Sun.

Police said that Scott Patrick Lawrence, 26, of the 3800 block of Washington Avenue in Abingdon, would be charged with attempted murder and other offenses connected to the shooting of Easton as well, though it was not clear how he was involved.
