Did you know that flowers have been used for thousands of years to convey human's emotions? We get most of our current floral traditions in the U.S. from European traditions, but plants and flowers have been used long before that. Remains of floral materials were found in archaeological sites in much of the ancient world such as Egypt, Rome and Greece. Their symbolism has been linked with mythology in all parts of life from birth and through to the "after life". We still use flowers in many of the same ways today. What's sweeter than sending the happy new parents an arrangement of flowers to say "Congratulations". Or a cute bouquet of daises or small roses for your daughter's ballet recital. Flowers then follow us through corsages and boutonnieres at proms and high school dances to the ever important...wedding flowers. Brides pour over photos of bouquets and meanings of flowers for months picking just the right bouquet. We send them as "Get Well" wishes or "Just Because". And sometimes, it's the "Get Out of the Dog House" bouquet that is the favorite! Who could forget flowers on Valentine's Day or Mother's Day? But I think one sentiment that many times gets overlooked but certainly makes a big impact are flowers used for sentiments of condolences. Sympathy flowers have a strong meaning and send a thoughtful message to the recipient. They themselves have been thinking of the perfect flowers for their departed loved one. We have seen many different ways of expressing sympathies over the years and it continually changes with each grieving family. We understand how hard this time is for families who can barely make it through the everyday details, let alone making decisions about flowers. That's why we strive to use our years of expertise to make the process much less stressful. We listen to what our client is trying to convey, whether it be tastefully simplistic or tailored to a design that tells the story of their loved one's life. Don't be afraid to be unsure of what you want. It is not a decision many people have pre-determined. That's why it ends up being such a beautiful way of remembering the deceased. Flowers fill our lives with many emotions. When you don't know the right words to say and no gift means right, just remember to "Say It with Flowers". It's always the perfect choice.
