Cockeysville Man Pleads Guilty In Facebook Threat

Federal officials say the Baltimore County man threatened a Florida woman on Facebook.

BALTIMORE, MD — A Cockeysville man faces up to five years in prison for threatening a woman on Facebook. He admitted that he threatened to sexually assault her and assault police officers pictured with her, in two separate posts on the social media platform, according to federal officials.

Seyed Ali Soroushjou, 38, of Cockeysville, pleaded guilty to sending threatening communication online through Facebook.

His target was a stranger in Jacksonville, Florida, officials said. She contacted law enforcement after receiving messages on Aug. 24, 2016, and Aug. 27, 2016, from someone she did not know. The person's user name was "MobyDick NahangaVahsi," according to the U.S. Attorney in Florida.

Investigators said they discovered that Soroushjou had threatened to assault three NYPD officers pictured with the victim in a Facebook photo, and in the second message, he "graphically stated that he intended to sexually assault" her.

After serving a warrant at his Cockeysville home, authorities said they seized three computer devices he used to access her Facebook account.
