Cockeysville Middle Student Wins Anime Club Costume Contest

A Cockeysville Middle School student won a costume competition hosted by the Cockeysville Library's Anime Club.

Seventh grade student Emily Bloodsworth received the most votes from Anime Club members for dressing like Misa Amane, her favorite character from anime show Death Note.

Sarah Foltz, another seventh grade student at Cockeysville Middle,  said Bloodsworth was the one who sparked her interest in anime.

“She started talking about it a lot, and so I watched it with her and now I like it too,” Foltz said.

Bloodsworth said she became interested in anime after a friend got her into it as well.

“In the beginning of summer I watched it, and then I started liking it a lot,”  Bloodsworth said. “I have a lot of friends, about 30 or 40 who are all interested in it too."

The Cockeysville anime club is currently accepting members between 11 and 17 years of age. Snacks are provided at meetings, which are held on the second Saturday of every month from 2 to 3 p.m.

In addition to next month’s meeting on Feb. 11, an anime workshop will be held on Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. for members interested in learning the drawing styles of Manga and American comics. Call the Cockeysville Library at (410) 887-7750 for more information.
