On the day of the tour, arrive at 8:00 am and start your day with a quick continental breakfast as you prepare to board the coach. Departure will be from the rear student parking lot at Stevenson University’s Greenspring Valley campus at 1525 Greenspring Valley Rd, Stevenson, MD 21153.
The tour will take you to the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, Notre Dame/Loyola Library, and Towson University. After leaving Towson University, you will return to Stevenson University for a light lunch. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to explore the Stevenson exhibit as well as listen to guest speaker Michael L Chrisman, the world’s foremost expert on the printing of the Gutenberg Bible. He will address the issues Gutenberg faced as he attempted to print what has become known as the “Gutenberg” Bible. After the lecture, feel free to enjoy refreshments or simply stroll to the rear parking lot where you left your car in the morning.

Sponsored in part by the Maryland Humanities Council, the Maryland Bible Society, and Stevenson University, the focus of the tour will be appreciating these historic texts through the lenses of literature, history, art, philosophy, and technology.
As part of that tour you will be introduced to the Maryland Bible Society Collection at Stevenson University, the Baltimore Hebrew Institute Collection at Towson University, as well as four historic Bibles:
· an original first-printing King James “He” Bible;
· a “Vinegar” Bible;
· an “Ede’s” Bible—the first Bible published in Baltimore; and
· a Heritage Edition “St John’s” Bible: the first hand written, hand illuminated Bible in over 500 years.
Involving four venues: The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, the Loyola/Notre Dame University Library, Towson University, and Stevenson University, the last time an event like this took place in Baltimore was nearly 75 years ago.
