Hereford Student To Be Honored at Eagle Scout Ceremony

Zach Lucas, 16, joined the Boy Scouts when he was in the first grade.

A Hereford High student is scheduled to be recognized at an Eagle Scout ceremony on Nov. 20 in Wall Township, NJ.

Zach Lucas, a 16-year-old 11th grade student at the school, joined the Boy Scouts when he was a first grade student residing in Wall Township.

"Zach's father and I are very proud of Zachary in his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout," said Vicki Lucas, Zach's mother.

He moved to Hereford this year and is now a member of Troop 92 in White Hall. Within the scouts, Zach Lucas has held several positions including patrol leader, scribe and bugler. In addition, he spearheaded an initiative to renovate a portion of a trail in Wall Township.

"We know that Zach will take these skills that he's developed and use them in attaining future goals," Vicki Lucas said. "We are proud that he will continue in scouting with Troop 92."

As a student at Hereford, Zach Lucas has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, plays the french horn and is a member of the cross country team. He also serves as a youth basketball coach and is involved in the Hereford Emergency Rescue Squad.

After graduation, he hopes to join a military service academy such as the U.S. Naval Academy.

"He has shown strength and committment in not only scouting, but his work in school and in his musical achievements," Vicki Lucas said.
