Man Dies After Cockeysville Apartment Fire: Officials

Authorities said a man died and his wife was treated for medical issues after a fire Monday at their apartment.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — A man died after a fire broke out Monday afternoon at his Cockeysville apartment, officials said.

Theodis Pinchback, 73, was in his apartment in the unit block of Athenry Court when crews arrived after 2 p.m., officials reported.

Smoke and fire were showing from Pinchback's second-floor apartment, where firefighters found him in a bedroom and rescued him, according to authorities.

Firefighters from the Texas station provided CPR and took Pinchback in critical condition to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where he died from his injuries several hours later, according to authorities.

Pinchback's wife, a 77-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of medical issues that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities said that the fire began in the kitchen and was accidental.
