Police Suspect Burglar Hid in Closet in Macaroni Grill Theft

After the restaurant closed, the thief broke into an office and stole $2,000.

About $2,000 was stolen from Romano's Macaroni Grill on Beaver Dam Road, and Baltimore County police believe the burglar hid inside a closet at the restaurant before it closed.

Police suspect that the burglar left the closet after the Macaroni Grill closed at 11 p.m. on Sunday and broke into the restaurant manager's office where the money was stored in a safe, according to Detective Cathy Batton, a spokeswoman.

Batton said signs of forced entry were seen on the manager's office door and the safe was cut open but there were indications of a disturbance on the exterior of the building, located in the 9700 block of Beaver Dam Road. Batton added that the closet door is usually closed but an employee found it open when arriving at the restaurant on Monday morning.
