• Welcome Home Neighbor helps furnish homes. It needs a home, too. (thebanner.com) — A Hyattsville-based mutual aid group, Welcome Home Neighbor, that furnishes homes for residents emerging from homelessness or domestic violence must vacate its free Gallatin Street lodge by the end of October and hasn't found a new space. Volunteers, mostly Hyattsville neighbors, are racing to move out furniture while hoping a low- or no-cost local building will let them keep serving Prince George's County families.
   

• Maryland Immigrants Reportedly Sent 30 Miles Away for Virtual Baltimore Hearings, Risk Deportation if Absent (latintimes.com) — Immigrants with cases in Baltimore and Hyattsville immigration courts are reportedly being redirected on short notice to unfamiliar federal buildings in D.C. and Virginia for virtual hearings, sometimes with only days to prepare. Advocates say confusing locations, scant signage, and accelerated schedules are causing missed appearances and in-absentia deportation orders, while federal officials cite a massive court backlog for the changes.
