All-Clear Given After Bomb Threat Evacuates School (Update)
Northwestern High School in Hyattsville was evacuated Tuesday morning. About noon the bomb squad said it was safe to return to class.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Updated at 12:15 p.m.
The bomb squad has given the OK for students and staff to return to classes after a suspicious package was found to be safe, authorities said.
The Prince George’s County Fire Department investigated the package at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville.

Department spokesman Mark Brady said on Twitter about 11:30 a.m. that all students have been evacuated and are safe.
Brady said emergency personnel were called to the school on Adelphi Road about 9:15 a.m. after a package was found that “appeared to be out of place and suspicious.”

Hyattsville police officers decided further investigation was needed by the county’s bomb squad.
The package contents are not hazardous, experts determined about noon. This is a good example of “when you see something, say something,”Brady said.
“We appreciate the information provided by the students here at Northwestern High School and staff,” Brady said.
Students will return to classrooms shortly.
