Ellen Cornett, The Art of the Tale Exhibition at the Brentwood Arts Exchange

You voted to crown her the winner of Project America’s Next Top Master Artist. Now Ellen Cornett is back with her solo show, The Art of the Tale. The show is a tour de force in drawing, featuring large monochromatic drawings that skillfully play on the use of blank space to evoke the strange, subtle, and surreal moments for which Ellen has come to be known.

The Art of the Tale is the rare type of exhibition that accessible and interesting to all audiences. Children are drawn to Ellen’s playful renderings, casual audiences immediately identify with her uncanny ability to depict personality and emotion, and avid gallery visitors will immediately appreciate her command of the figure along with her ability to reinvent popular historical sources. Exhibition on view now through October 24, 2015. Opening reception: Saturday, September 12, 5-8 pm; Artist talk: Saturday, October 10, 2-4 pm.
