Norberto Mejicanos is a skilled trumpet player who hails from Alexandria, Virginia. He started playing trumpet at aged ten when his grandmother bought him one for his birthday. Ever since it has been a key element of his life and under the mentorship of Vaughn Ambrose he has blossomed into the performer and educator that he is today.
Since 2004, Norberto has been working as a freelance trumpeter in the DMV area. His performances include, classical, jazz, reggae, gospel, neo-soul, rock and salsa bands. He has shared the stage with music icons such as Cecil Bridgewater, Fred Wesley, Bobby Felder, Jimmy Owens, “Bunky” Green, McCoy Tyner, Andrew White, Benny Golson, Billy Taylor, Shunzo Ohno, Irvin Mayfield, and Jason Marsalis.
