I just ask to save myself the trouble,” said Ayanna Donovan, sophomore business major. Although that saves everyone the hassle, it’s great to keep the element of surprise. “I pay attention to everything the person has, then I take it from there,” said Alliya Noel, “Like what can I get this person that he or she doesn’t already have.”
Another great way to pick a gift is to pay attention to what the person expresses as a want versus a need. “I listen to what my kids say they want throughout the year, then I base it off necessity,” said Karen Roberts. “In what way can this actually benefit her? Can she use it after a year?” said Roberts. A gift that can last a longtime, while being beneficial is a great gift to give!

The best way to pick a gift for someone is to know the person extremely well. “My mom loves fragrances, so I always get her perfume sets and stuff like that,” says Kiya McMillan. The person will love the gift a lot more knowing that it came from someone who has an idea of what he or she likes. McMillan explains, “My mom always loves the perfumes I give her. She has so many but too many is never enough for her.”
“It makes me so happy to see my family and friends appreciating the gifts I picked out,” explains Noel. Therefore, the greatest gift of all is knowing one’s loved one will appreciate the gift!
