National Night Out 2017 In Hyattsville

Communities throughout Prince George's County have National Night Out events planned for Aug. 1.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Hyattsville residents and police will celebrate neighborhoods and get to know each other Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the 34th annual National Night Out observances.

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations, officials said.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.

Hyattsville residents can enjoy the festivities with free family fun all night long, including: moonbounces, free snow cones and cotton candy, DJ music and dancing, K-9 demonstrations, a performance by Mandy the Clown, face painting, a bike safety course for kids and more.

The event will take place Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Heurich Park at 2800 Nicholson St.
