Three Arrested for Possession of Tec-9 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Suspects from Hyattsville, Silver Spring and Burtonsville were arrested on gun charges by Montgomery County Police.

A Silver Spring traffic stop led to the arrest of three Montgomery County residents for possession of a semi-automatic pistol and handgun offenses.

Montgomery County Police arrested the trio Tuesday night in the area of Georgia Avenue and Spring Street after a traffic stop and foot chase.

Officer arrested Kermit Burton, 26, of the 7200 block of Mahogany Drive in Hyattsville; Michael Warren, 29, of the 100 block of Schuyler Road in Silver Spring; and Joy Samuels, 26, of the 3800 block of Wildlife Lane in Burtonsville for possession of a Intratec AB-10 (Tec-9) semi-automatic pistol.

When officers asked Warren and Burton to get out of the car Burton fled. Officers pursued Burton on foot and he was located in the 8700 block of Colesville Road.

On the rear passenger floorboard where Burton was sitting, officers say they found a black, Intratec AB-10 (Tec-9) semi-automatic pistol. The gun’s serial number was obliterated and police also found a loaded 9mm magazine on the floorboard.

All three suspects were taken to the Central Processing Unit, where they were charged with handgun offenses
Burton was ordered held without bond. Warren was released after posting a $5,000 bond and Samuels was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
