Board of Ed Will Vote on Middle School Site Selection

At tonight's meeting, the board will decide whether to redo the process for picking a location.

The Montgomery County Board of Education will vote tonight on whether to redo the site-selection process for the controversial middle school planned for .

Last week, Superintendent Joshua Starr in picking a location for the second Bethesda-Chevy Chase middle school, after hearing complaints from neighbors and discovering a possible legal barrier.

If the board passes Starr's recommendation, MCPS would recruitย site-selection committee members in December and begin the process anew in January.ย The new committee would consider and include any others proposed by members.

Starr has said that the new middle school, where ever it's located, needs to open in August 2017 to accommodate projected enrollment growth. Redoing this process will not push back the school's opening, he said.
