RITA CLARKE AND THE NATURALS

 Saturday  morning,  June  9th.  I  settle  in  for  what  I  think

     will  be  a  relaxing  mornijng  of  joyful  upbeat  folksy  music

from  Rita  Clarke  and  her  band  of  merry  minstrels;  The  Naturals

      have  been  together  for  at  least  ten  years  singing  upbeat  music

in  the  folk  genre' basically  and  played  at  Inwood  House  the  evening

      before.  Joyfully  clapping  my  hands and  frolicking  in  spirit;  all  of

a  sudden the  accordian  player  spots  me,  the  Poet  Laureate  in  the

       audience  and  my  morning  of  anonymity  is  ended.  Lesley  Choy

the  accordian  aficienado  of  Inwood  Coffee  House  to  great  excitement

        from  the  audience  calls  me  up!  She  thinks  I  should  read  something;

not  prepared  but  unknown  to  me  she  still  has  her  music  and  my  writing

       with  her  from  the  night  before;  and  so  it  was  that  I  was  able

to  read  with  great  gusto  JOYS  OF  JUNE  which  was  enjoyed  by  everyone

        in  the  crowd.  The  morning  is  capped  off  with  lunch  at  my  favorite

restaurant  . . .  Two  Pears.  A  perfect  ending  to  a  splendid morning.
