Disabled Woman Raped In Nursing Home: Police
A man is charged with rape of a fellow nursing home resident who is immobile and non-verbal, police said.

KENSINGTON, MD — An elderly man who lives in a Kensington nursing home was arrested on rape and similar charges after police said he confessed to sexually abusing a non-verbal and immobile woman who also resides at the nursing home, according to media reports.
Stanley Thomas, 62, lives at the Kensington Nurse and Rehabilitation Center. He told investigators that he raped a fellow nursing home resident — an immobile, non verbal and bedridden 52-year-old woman who suffers from Huntington's disease and other conditions, court documents show.
Thomas allegedly told police he went into the woman's room and raped her, and that this was the second time he'd forced himself onto her, court documents say. According to ABC7, Thomas voluntarily told police that a similar situation happened between himself and the victim in the fall of 2016.

Thomas additionally told police he forced his tongue into the woman's mouth, and reportedly said, in part, "I could tell she liked it."
The nursing staff called police earlier this month after they noticed the woman's bedroom door was open, and found Thomas inside her room and the woman's diaper removed, WTOP reports.

Police contacted the woman's medical power of attorney, who told them that the woman was unable to acknowledge what's happening around her. Police were unable to interview the woman about the situation.
Thomas is set to be in court on April 28. He currently facing two counts of second-degree rape and two other sexual offenses. If convicted, a judge could sentence Thomas to a maximum of 51 years in prison.
