Free concert by Heritage Signature Chorale, Stanley J. Thurston, Artistic
Director, Saturday, February 21, 2015, 7:30 PM at Cedar Lane UU Church in
Bethesda. The Heritage Signature Chorale, now celebrating its fifteenth
season, is committed to preserving the African-American choral tradition,
especially the Negro Spiritual, while at the same time embracing its own
interpretation of classical music. Through the championing of artists,
composers, and arrangers who share this commitment, the Chorale continues to
foster community awareness and appreciation of an important historical
legacy. Past performances include a collaboration in “Underground Railroad:
An Evening with Kathleen Battle” at the Strathmore Concert Hall and a
performance at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of African
American History and Culture Groundbreaking Ceremony in February of 2012.
Stanley J. Thurston is the founding Music Director of The Heritage Signature
Chorale. Well known as a pianist, composer, and arranger, Mr. Thurston was
commissioned to compose and conduct a special musical tribute for President
Obama’s National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral in
2009. For more info call Henry Sgrecci, 301-493-8300 x214
