Frugal Family: Five Deals to Stretch the Family Budget

Welcome back to our weekly rundown of five local deals to help with your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting, we save you time as well as money.

This week we scoured our local sources and found savings from dinner to dessert, with a kids-eat-free deal, ice cream for 31-cents per scoop, and organic fruits and veggies discounts. Plus as Administrative Professional's Day is this week, we found savings on flowers (to reward that person(s) in your office who keeps everything going smoothly). Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions, if any:

1. Ice Cream: , 10592 Metropolitan Avenue, 301-942-1998 (and other participating locations).

Deal: Get a scoop (or two) of ice cream for only 31 cents per scoop while helping a cause—Baskin & Robbins is honoring the nation's firefighters by donating $100,000 to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Good through: April 27, 5 - 10 p.m.

2. Kids Meal Deal: , 1605 Rockville Pike, Rockville, 301- 468-9086 (Congressional Plaza).

Deal: Kids eat free for lunch or dinner every Wednesday.

Good through: Ongoing on Wednesdays (at Congressional Plaza location).

3. Organic Fruits and Veggies: , 11355 Woodglen Drive, Rockville, 301-984-4880 (new location, across from White Flint mall).

Deal: Save this week on selected organic produce: mangoes are two for $3, carrots $1.79 a bunch, grape tomatoes $2.99 per pint, and spring favorite asparagus is $4.99 per pound.

4. Flowers - Cut, Potted or Arranged: , 10541 Connecticut Ave., 301-945-4273 (and other locations).

Deal: Administrative Professionals day is Wednesday—pick up a floral thank-you for the person(s) who helps your office run smoothly and save: Potted hyacinths are $2.99 (4-inch);  potted tulips $5.99 (6-inch), and floral arrangements start at $14.99. Bouquets and cut flowers also on sale (including 18 roses for just $12.99) .

5. Games and free Pizza: (various locations)

Deal: Have an at-home game night and receive a free Tombstone pizza coupon, with the purchase of any Hasbro brand game and Hasbro's online offer. Suggested local locations to pick up a game are , Toys R Us, or Target.

Good through: Game must be purchased by April 30; send in receipt as proof of purchase.
