Frugal Family: Five Deals to Stretch the Family Budget

Welcome back to our weekly rundown of five local deals to help with your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting, we save you time as well as money.

This week we scoured our local sources and found deals on watch batteries, vitamins and supplements, clothing, a breakfast/snack deal and a kid's meal—for free. Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions, if any:

Deal: Replace the battery in that currently unusable watch at a discount. Pay just $5.39 for a watch battery replacement using a coupon. Or, take 20 percent off a watch or clock repair. 

Good through:  May 20.

Deal: GNC Gold card members Save 20 percent storewide including on sale items. Gold card purchase required (card can be used first week of every month throughout the year). Savings also offered online.

Good through: First week of every month; this month's Goldcard week extended until May 10 (hurry!).

Deal: Get 20 percent off your entire purchase, for Passport members (no cost to join); or 15 percent off for non-members.

Good through: In progress for a limited time; check store or website for updates.

Deal: Kids eat for free on Wednesdays - get one free kid's meal with each adult entree purchased.

Good through: Ongoing on Wednesdays, 5 to 9 p.m.

4. Breakfast or snack deal: , 4819 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda, 301-652-8990.

Deal: Your choice of $2 off a dozen bagels or a free 8-ounce tub of cream cheese, with coupon.

Good through: May 18.
