Frugal Family: Five Deals to Stretch the Family Budget
We've scoured the neighborhood for deals, so you won't have to.
Welcome back to our weekly rundown of five local deals to help with your family’s bottom line. Since we do the scouting, we save you time as well as money.
This St. Patrick's Day week, we scoured our local sources and came up with deals to save you some green; including a free St. Paddy's Day meal deal (move fast that day!); stocking up on groceries for a festive holiday dinner at home; savings on men's and women's suits; budget-friendly childen's clothing; and getting the car in shape for spring. Remember to check with the merchant for additional conditions, if any:
1. St. Patrick's Day Lucky Meal Deal: O'Malley's Pub, 2 Montgomery Village Ave., Gaithersburg, 301-948-8900.

Deal: Share the luck of the Irish with a FREE Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner at O'Malley's, when you come in wearing green or an O'Malley's T-shirt on St. Patrick's day.
Good through: 4-5:30 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day (March 17), while supplies last (dine-in only).

2. Stock up on "Green" Groceries: Safeway, 10541 Connecticut Ave., 301-945-4273 (and other locations).
Deal: Whether you're truly Irish or not take advantage of St. Patrick's Day Savings on staples, including green cabbage 44-cents lb., corned beef $1.49 lb., and red potatoes 49-cents lb. Also save on Irish Spring soap, 8 bars for $2.99 (less than 38 cents a bar).
Good through: Sales end March 19.
3. Suit Yourself for Spring: Syms, 1900 Chapman Ave., Rockville, 301-984-3335.
Deal: Buy one and get another one free on men's and women's suits. Also men's designer shirts on sale, two for $50; ties two for $20. Sign up for their email list for more savings offers each week.
Good through: Suit sale continues through March 19; check website for other specials. (Note: Women's suit sale not shown on website, but offered in store).
4. Budget-Friendly Children's Clothing: Kensington Caboose, 10508 Connecticut Ave., 301-929-0178.
Deal: Winter's almost gone but there's still time to save $10 off any purchase of $50 or more this week with their Winter Wonderland coupon.
Good through: Coupon expires March 20.
5. Get the Car in Shape: Meineke, 3825B Dupont Ave., 301-946-5521.
Deal: Start getting the car ready for warm weather with an oil change for just $19.95, plus a free spring maintenance check, with their online coupons.
