Grab & Go Kids Planner: Feb. 23 through March 2
There's still time to celebrate Black History Month before it ends, and there's lots of family fun nearby this week.

It's Wednesday, and that means it's time to check out our Grab & Go Kids Planner to see what Kensington has to offer kids and families this week. As always, we'd love to hear from you if there are any local, family-friendly events that we missed. Let us know, and we'll be sure to keep an eye out for them in the future.
The weather may have fooled us all last week, but there's plenty to do indoors to stay warm and enjoy some quality time together. Here are some things for the family to do in and around Kensington while we wait for spring to arrive:
• STORY TIMES
Where/When: hosts a Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m or you can go to the at Wednesday at 10:15 a.m.
Why Go: Kids love having stories read to them. Why not let the librarian do the reading while you sit back and enjoy some stories with the kids?

Where/When: The fun starts at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Clara Barton Community Center.
Why Go: A little friendly competition always brings families closer together. It's also a lot of fun to watch the kids go crazy waiting for their turn to yell "BINGO!"
Pricing: You get one BINGO card for $5, and it's good for the whole night.
• BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Where/When: The Historic Josiah Henson Special Park is where you'll find the poets on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Why Go: As Black History Month comes to an end, the whole family can to listen to poets read about the Underground Railroad, slavery and freedom.

Where/When: Bring your imaginations to on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Remember asking balloon sculptors to make all kinds of animals, flowers and other objects? Your kids can have fun balloon animal memories, too!

• OPERA FOR THE KIDS:
Where/When: The Washington National Opera for Children will be at the on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Why Go: It's not often you can expose the kids to some opera in a kid-friendly way. Here's a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy a classic fairy tale, and get some culture at the same time.
