How to select eye wears for your little ones?

It is a common confusion that occurs while selecting pair of eye wears for children. Despite of fashion, lot of things to keep in mind while selecting Children’s eye wear. Since children have tender eye tissues, it is our responsibility to protect them from harmful ultra violet radiations. Most of the kids less than 5 years have several eye problems that found undetected. New technologies and equipment have enabled early diagnosis of vision problems from the very first months of life, and with appropriate treatments the problem can be corrected. But the major problem is most of the parents are unaware or neglect such eye tests.

Nowadays most of the eye clinics offer special Children Eye Care facilities to treat children in a child friendly environment. Major issue while selecting glasses for them is, the nature of child may be rough or sometimes careless with their glasses. Chance of breaking the frames is even more.

Even if your child is not suffering from any serious eye problem, it is important to put a sunglass. Because the UV rays from sun, even in winter can cause conditions such as cataracts and tumours that affect parts of eyes. Since younger eyes absorb more UV rays, so protection glasses are much more important for them. While buying sunscreen glasses, go with branded sunglasses.

Lens thickness:

Prescription eye glasses are the primary selection always.so before buying glasses, consult your optician.it is important to keep frames small as possible to reduce the final lens thickness.

 

Fashion Glasses:

Whether your child is a full time or part time wearer, most of the children likes to play with it ,may be for their first use. So select those frames that won’t make them uncomfortable. Fashionable eye wear for children is also a good choice

Plastic or metal?

Children’s frames are commonly made up of plastic or metal. Earlier the frames for children were made up of plastics. Since they were durable and flexible. But now manufacturers are making metal frames that have all features of the plastic frames earlier.

Spring hinges:

Kids are not always careful to put on their glasses. The spring hinges are handy if the child falls asleep or just has a rough day outside playing. Spring hinges are most suitable for toddlers, who have the habit of playing with their new glasses.

Lenses:

Lenses for children are made up of poly carbonate or triyex, because these lightweight materials are significantly safest material than other plastic lenses. These materials are also good in resisting ultraviolet rays and scratch.

 

Back up pair:

Since children are mostly tough on their eye wears, it is always recommended to keep a back-up pair of eyeglasses for them. This is especially for the kids those who has strong prescription and cannot view without glasses.
