Kensington Welcomes First Poet Laureate

Richard H. Rice was presented with a proclamation from the mayor on Monday, May 23, to acknowledge him as Kensington's first Poet Laureate.

Rice has written many poems about Kensington where he shows a love and appreciation for the town. After receiving the proclamation, Rice read one of his poems, "Heart Music."

Rice was first announced as the Poet Laureate at the sixth annual He has lived in Kensington for most of his life, is a frequent reader at events and has been writing free verse poetry since the '70s.
