PLOW SNOW TO LEFT ON MAJOR ROADS

Webmaster suggests a way to reduce some problems after snowstorms. Synopsis below; link to full analysis provided.

My Take #7
(Synopsis posted11/24/14; Full Analysis available at www.WebmasterSays.org, in the My Take section as My Take #7)

Synopsis: Webmaster suggests a partial fix to the problems with snow removal that jurisdictions like Montgomery County, Maryland encounter when dealing with a large snowstorm. He suggests that - on major (arterial) roads - snow plows be deployed with the blades set so as to plow snow to the left (rather than to the right). He explains in some detail the limitations of this approach and he also discusses the benefits that would accrue if his suggestion was followed. Two major benefits would be that pedestrians would no longer be subjected to an unfair burden and that the society as a whole would be acting consistent with its stated goals of increasing the use of public transportation and decreasing dependence on automobiles.
