Report: Fosselman Says He Returned Reimbursements to Kensington
Mayor Peter C. Fosselman told residents he has returned $1,105 to the town coffers, according to the Washington Post.

Kensington Mayor Peter C. Fosselman says he has repaid the town for town funding he used to reimburse himself for campaign contributions he made to other politicians early in his mayoral career, according to a Washington Post report.
he made 13 contributions totaling about $1,100 on behalf of Kensington between 2007 and 2008 as a โpublic relations ambassador,โ since the town had no formal economic or marketing staff.
The Post suggested Fosselman did it to sway votes in his favor.

Fosselman publicly disclosed all the information about the reimbursements and stopped receiving them in June 2008, when he was notified it "wasn't good practice."
According to federal and Maryland law, contributions cannot be made to campaigns on behalf of another individual or group.
The Post reported that residents received a newsletter from Fosselman Friday that said he has repaid the town $1,105.
โI certainly appreciate in retrospect that this practice was not a good use of Town funds,โ he wrote.
