Third Thursday Offers Bargains, Chess and Fresh Pizza

Businesses stay open late for Kensington's monthly event.

Tonight, Kensington will again , with Old Town businesses staying open to offer deals and host events.

From 5 to 8 p.m., you can duel with a chessmaster, save money on dinner, hear live poetry and create some art. Here are a few of the deals and events available:

  •  is hosting chess master Allan Savage, who will battle multiple opponents at the same time. Feel free to drop in any time between 5 and 8 p.m. to play a game against Savage. Also, author Thomas W. Young will be there at 7:30 to read from his book Silent Enemy.
  •  will host an  from 6 to 8 p.m., inviting one and all to take the stage and show off their talents. Kensington Poet Laureate  will be on hand for a reading, too. Two Pears is also offering discounts on dinner specials and selling bottles of wine at half price.
  • Adah Rose Gallery is hosting an arts and crafts soiree from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., inviting attendees to stop in and create something. Be sure to bring some art supplies.
  • is offering a free cupcake with each $5 purchase.
  • Frankly ... Pizza will be on hand, serving fresh-baked pizza on the street.
