Upcoming at the Strathmore

Check out these upcoming events at the Music Hall at Strathmore.

This adult education course is a two day session (Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21). Nicholas Simmons—Winner of the 2007 National Watercolor Society top prize—will share watercolor techniques during the workshop. For $200, each student will have the opportunity to paint and get individualized attention from Simmons.

May 21: National Philharmonic

The National Philharmonic will perform "Verdi's Requiem" at 8 p.m. Conductor Stan Engebretson will conduct Arianna Zukerman (soprano), Patricia Miller (mezzo-soprano), Dona Bernardini (tenor) and Kevin Deas (bass).

May 22: MCYO: A Classical Celebration

At 3 and 7 p.m., the MCYO junior ensembles will perform its final concert of the season. Chamber Strings, Young Artists and Symphony orchestras will perform selections from Beethoven, Brahms, Bizet, Holst, Respighi, Shostakovich, Schubert and Rimsky-Korsakov.

May 24: So You Think You Can't Sing

This adult education course focuses on singing harmonies. For $135, you'll get four singing sessions with music educator John Horman. He'll teach the basics of part-singing, rounds and harmonizing.
