
As of November 2, Interim Program Director for PHILLIPS School ~ Laurel, Don Downing will assume the role of full-time Program Director. Don came to PHILLIPS as a consultant during the 2010-11 school year. He quickly engaged students, parents, staff and referrers and helped develop key program supports, such as the re-emergence of Bulldog Bucks and student announcements as well as creating a staff-training curriculum customized for our very unique environment. Don was appointed Interim Director July 1st.
Don holds degrees in special education and social work, and comes to PHILLIPS with many years of experience supporting at-risk youth and their families. He has worked in clinical, administrative and program building capacities. He has made particular contributions in the area of organizational development, which makes him the right person at this time for the opportunities for outreach and growth of our Laurel program. Additionally, Don teaches social work as an adjunct faculty at Coppin State University. Please join PHILLIPS Programs in congratulating Don on his well-deserved new position!
