Free Pizza + City Council Approves FY2022 Budget

Here are the top five stories in Laurel today:

1. Gov. Larry Hogan announced that Marylanders who received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine can pick up a free 8-inch pizza from Ledo Pizza. Hogan dined at the restaurant to promote the deal, offered at all Ledo Pizza locations except these: Seabrook, Catonsville, Eldersburg, Ellicott City, Hanover, Urbana, Wheaton and Fulton, according to reporter Elizabeth Janney. 2. Laurel City Council member Carl DeWalt lead volunteers around the city to pick up trash in the allies between 6th and 7th streets, parallel to Montgomery Street, that were filled with an ever-growing pile of old televisions, broken recliner chairs and other dumped garbage. The junk was moved to the street so that the city’s Department of Public Works could pick it up. The city sent three bills to DeWalt, totaling $185 for the trash removal. (Baltimore Sun)

3. Mayor Craig A. Moe announces that the balanced FY2022 Operating Budget and FY2022 – 2027 Capital Improvement Program was approved at the April 26, 2021 by a unanimous vote from the Mayor and City Council. The $36.75 million Operating Budget, was adopted without any tax rate increase, maintains city services, and includes a market adjustment and merit increase for City employees. (City of Laurel)

4. Mayor Craig A. Moe announced the new appointments of LouAnn Crook to City Administrator, Christian Pulley to Deputy City Administrator, and Robert Love to the position of Director of Economic and Community Development. All were unanimously confirmed by the Laurel City Council. Their new positions will take effect immediately. (City of Laurel)

  • Outdoor Pig Roast - Join Lantz restaurant at the Dutch farmers market for an outdoor pig roast today, Friday and Saturday. They will be selling pork sandwiches, cold drinks, platters (sandwich, slaw/beans, and cold drink), and pulled pork to take home for your family and friends. (9:00 a.m.)
  • Laurel Dutch Country Farmers Market - Located at 9701 Fort Meade Road, is open this Thursday (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
