Grassroots Launches Holiday Fundraising Campaign

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week Now Underway

(Dylan Singleton)

Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center is calling upon the community to observe national Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week now through Nov. 24, by joining the center’s annual fundraising campaign. Grassroots provides 24-hour crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and support to individuals and families with a mental health, substance use or homelessness crisis.

Last year Grassroots emergency and winter sheltering program supported 500 people, including 118 children, who received services to help them achieve permanent housing. It served them approximately 60,000 meals and provided 25,000 shelter nights.

Grassroots also had one-on-one contact with 3,348 people through walk-in counseling and went on 845 Mobile Crisis Team visits to schools, families, businesses and other organizations.
