HoCo Conservancy Ushers in Fall with Hike, S'mores

The Fall Equinox Twilight Hike is slated for Tuesday.

Fall officially starts with the autumn equinox on Monday night, and the Howard County Conservancy is offering a “Fall Equinox Twilight Hike” on Tuesday to celebrate.

The event will be complete with s’mores and campfire stories.

First, participants will hike through a meadow and along a stream before arriving at a campfire ring. Once there, they will roast marshmallows around the fire for s’mores, while leaders share legends about the autumn equinox.

At the conclusion of the hike, participants will see the sun setting due west over the horizon and get an astronomy lesson. The autumn equinox begins at 10:29 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22.

The event is $5 per person and $10 per family. The ”Fall Equinox Twilight Hike” will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Howard County Conservancy, 10520 Old Frederick Road, in Woodstock, Registration is required; sign up online here.
