Laurel Council Approves Annexation, Eyes More Land
Laurel set to expand along Van Dusen Road

The Laurel City Council has approved a resolution to annex additional land south along Van Dusen Road.
During last night’s Council meeting, officials unanimously approved the annexation of 70 acres of property along Van Duson Road south of Contee Road. The annexation would bring the city to the , a 2,200-acre mixed-use development located in an unincorporated area.
The State Highway Administration and Strittmatter Land LLC, a construction and gravel mining company, currently own parcels of the land. City officials , I-95, and could possibly be developed for residential uses in the future. City officials already were given a presentation by Mill Creek Residential Trust, development partner of Strittmater, on a possible residential venture at the property.

“It’s going to be a nice project. I think the city would be proud,” Mayor Craig Moe said of the annexation and potential project in last month.
The city is still finalizing a resolution for another small annexation along its southeast boundaries.
