Police said the Laurel man stabbed someone in a vehicle that blocked his way on the ICC.

LAUREL, MD — A Laurel man has been arrested in a stabbing on the Intercounty Connector (ICC) last week, according to Maryland State Police.

Ronald Paul, 49, of the 9000 block of Moonshine Hollow, was arrested at a residence at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, and is being held without bond at the Prince George's County Detention Center, police said Tuesday.

Paul is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, concealing a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.

The charges stem from an incident around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, on the ramp from the ICC east to I-95 north, where Paul was allegedly trying to pass traffic on the shoulder.

Police said that the driver of a white Chevy Silverado moved into the shoulder to block Paul's gray pickup truck from getting by, at which point Paul ordered the Silverado's passenger to get out.

When the man refused, Paul allegedly opened the door and tried to grab him.

Police said the passenger turned his legs toward Paul to try to defend himself when the Laurel man pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the leg. Paul allegedly spit toward the driver of the Silverado and drove away.

Authorities said the driver of the Silverado and the victim, who was described as a Reisterstown man, took down a partial tag number and provided a description of the suspect, leading police to identify Paul.

The Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center, Motor Vehicle Administration, Prince George’s County Police Department, Maryland Transportation Authority police and EZ Pass assisted in the investigation, according to Maryland State Police.

Paul is slated for a preliminary hearing in Prince George's Country District Court on Nov. 20.
